First pile driven for Xycle Europoort!

We are thrilled to announce that the construction of the first commercial-scale plant of Xycle has started. Located in the Port of Rotterdam, this chemical recycling facility will have strategic access to the transportation of plastic waste into the plant and distribution of pyrolysis oil from the plant to the off-take partners.

Tuesday, 10 June marked a special moment at Xycle in Rotterdam: the symbolic first pile for our innovative recycling plant was driven into the ground. Together with our contractors, we celebrated this exciting milestone. Before the piling began, attendees left their name or signature on the pile — a symbolic gesture to reinforce the strength of our collaboration.

A total of 1,025 piles will be driven into the ground at the Rijndwarsweg site. The plant, which will process hard-to-recycle plastics, is expected to be operational in Q4 2026.

The heart of the plant – its 10 reactors – will be delivered in Q3 2025 and installed by the end of the year.

Once completed, the plant will convert 21,000 tonnes of non-mechanically recyclable plastic into high-quality renewable raw material annually – a responsible alternative feedstock for the production of new plastics for the chemical industry. The artist’s impression below gives you a clear idea of what the plant will look like once it is completed in late 2026.
