Career
Xycle is a dynamic company with big ambitions. Will you help us make both industry and society more sustainable? Currently, we are looking for:

Maintenance Technician – Xycle Europoort (Full-time)
Will you help build the factory of the future?
The world is drowning in plastic waste, and the chemical industry must become more sustainable. At Xycle, we don’t wait—we build solutions. At our brand-new facility in Europoort (Rotterdam), we will convert hard-to-recycle plastic waste into high-quality pyrolysis oil: a circular feedstock for new plastics.
Our installation includes pyrolysis reactors, pumps, piping systems, and other equipment that together enable an advanced chemical recycling process. The plant is currently under construction, with commissioning starting later this year. This is the moment to join.
Are you a driven Maintenance Technician who thrives on technical challenges and wants to contribute to a cleaner planet? Then we are looking for you.
Your mission as a Maintenance Technician
As a Maintenance Technician at Xycle, you will play a crucial role in the start-up phase and become a key driver of the plant’s long-term success. Because the plant is still under construction, you have the unique opportunity to be involved during commissioning and to learn the installation inside out from day one.
Together with your colleagues in the Maintenance team, you will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance, ensuring optimal quality, continuity, and reliability of the pyrolysis process. You will work on a modern process installation including reactors, pumps, piping systems, and rotating equipment—comparable to installations in the chemical and petrochemical industry.
Xycle Europoort’s maintenance strategy, procedures, instructions, and standards form the foundation of your work. You will use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planning, tracking, and optimizing maintenance activities.
What will you do?
- Plan, organize, and execute maintenance activities, or supervise their execution
- Monitor the quality and performance of maintenance contractors
- Implement and execute the maintenance plan
- Develop and manage procedures and work instructions
- Issue work permits and ensure safe execution of activities
- Ensure a clean, orderly, and safe working environment and correct use of installations
- Maintain inventory levels, including recommended spare parts and minimum stock
- Organize and perform safety observation rounds
- Manage and maintain technical documentation within your discipline
- Propose improvements in safety, quality, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Participate in project reviews and safety studies
- Take part in on-call duties to ensure quick and safe resolution of breakdowns outside regular working hours
What do you bring?
- A strong passion for technology
- Solid knowledge of maintenance in all its aspects
- MBO level 4 degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
- A forklift and aerial work platform certificate, or willingness to obtain these
- The ability to coach colleagues and improve performance
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and with attention to detail
- Flexibility to respond quickly to changes in process or organization
- Team spirit and a results-driven mindset
- Perseverance and a precise working attitude
- Creativity to address technical issues at their root cause
- Good physical condition
What does Xycle offer you?
Working at an innovative pioneer in circular technology means your impact is immediately visible. At Xycle, you will help build not only a new plant, but also a new standard in plastic recycling.
- Salary: Gross monthly salary between €3,400 and €4,900 (full-time, depending on experience)
